High dose / dose rate

Radiation at sufficiently high levels (well above a few hundred mSv) may cause sickness, organ damage or death within a relatively short time after the irradiation. A dose of 2 Sv will cause sickness in a substantial portion of the population (25%), while a dose of 10 Sv will cause eventual death for most. Typical effects of high doses are sickness, diarrhoea, hair loss, sterility, skin damage.
