Teaching Points
- Investigation of recurrent headache in children is often not indicated, unless the following ‘Red Flag symptoms/signs are present -
- Focal neurological signs
- Persistent headache for 6 months
- Persistent headache in a child without a family history of migraine
- Persistent headache with confusion or emesis
- Headache that awakens the child from sleep
- Family or medical history that may predispose to a CNS lesion
