Jurisdiction
Diagnostic Imaging Pathways has been produced within Australia and developed with an understanding of the local healthcare system. Caution must therefore be applied in using these guidelines outside of Australia , especially in areas where limited imaging modalities are available. Imaging modalities that are available at most Australian tertiary referral centres have been included in these guidelines. Experimental procedures that have not been approved by Australia 's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) have not been considered for inclusion in these pathways.
The development of this electronic clinical decision support tool and educational resource is designed to assist clinicians in situations when faced with a large array of possible diagnostic imaging tests. Consideration has been given to the varying availability of resources and this has been incorporated into the pathways wherever possible. However, it is recognised that practices may differ from the pathways depending on local availability of equipment and expertise, as well as individual clinicians and radiologists experience. These guidelines are neither rigid rules, nor a substitute for clinical assessment and individual patient circumstances should always be considered.
Confidentiality and Privacy
The developers of Diagnostic Imaging Pathways recognise the importance of protecting the privacy of users of this product. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy Statement, the term users include anyone who accesses this program for any purpose. Personal information and other data are not gathered during routine use of the product and any visitor information will not be shared with third parties.
For the purposes of feedback and improvement, we may provide an electronic or hard copy questionnaire. Any personal information such as your name, telephone number, and e-mail address obtained from this survey instrument may be stored on our database, if you have indicated that we can contact you for further discussion on the feedback provided. Only the developers of the program will have access to this database. Any personal information will be handled according to the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.
The image gallery contains examples of various clinical conditions, as they appear on different imaging modalities. All images have been de-identified and do not contain any patient information. After the de-identified images have been uploaded into the program, any personal patient data is deleted and is not stored within the program, or kept by the developers or anyone associated with the program.
Cookies
Cookies are data that is transferred to a user's hard drive for recording information that can be recalled by the Web server. It is used to store information regarding usage patterns, usernames and user preferences. Diagnostic Imaging Pathways does not employ the use of cookies.
Use by Third Parties
Evaluation of the impact on clinical practice is an essential part of any clinical decision support tool. Information may be gathered on requesting practice but all information is de-identified with regard to the patient and the requestor. In some cases, other groups or contractors may be used to assist with evaluation. They will be subject to the same conditions regarding any data they may review from Diagnostic Imaging Pathways.
