  • A detailed history and thorough clinical examination is required prior to imaging
  • MRI is the first line modality in the assessment of suspected spinal cord compression
  • Plain radiographs have a limited role in this syndrome
  • If MRI is unavailable, CT +/- myelogram may be an alternative. However, a myelogram is an invasive procedure and has its own inherent risks
